GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
We give our hearts to Christ and commit our lives to Christ's service in the church, community and world.
There are many opportunities for giving at Shandon Presbyterian Church. First, we give our hearts to Christ and commit our lives to Christ's service in the church, community and world. The Web site describes many ways in which we give our selves in worship and service. The ministry of the church is also supported by the faithful financial giving of the congregation to the general budget and to special causes.
The Church Budget provides approximately $1,500,000 annually for the many programs and mission of the church. Members of the church are encouraged to make an annual pledge to the Christ's mission through Shandon.
HOW CAN I FINANCIALLY CONTRIBUTE TO SHANDON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH?
There are many ways you can contribute financially to Shandon Presbyterian Church. Those who make pledges or give regularly to the work of the church receive personal offering envelopes to facilitate their giving. If you would like to make a pledge or receive envelopes, please contact Bonnie Smith: (803) 771-4408 or bsmith@shandonpres.org Remember, in order to receive the appropriate documentation you need for tax purposes your name and address must be clearly identifiable on your check.
- Place your checks/cash in the offering on Sundays.
- Mail your checks (please don't send cash) to the church office:
Shandon Presbyterian Church
607 Woodrow Street
Columbia, SC 29205 -
You can donate stocks and mutual funds and other 'property' that often provide you with a double tax benefit (assuming the investment has appreciated and that you have held the stock for more than one year). By donating appreciated securities you avoid the capital gains tax faced when selling the stock, and the church pays NO capital gains tax when it sells the donated security. You should check with a tax professional before initiating any transfer of securities. If you would like to donate stock you can initiate the transfer through your broker and request that the shares be transferred to:

If your bank has automated bill paying you can set up Shandon Presbyterian Church to receive electronically generated checks, allowing you an easier way to be systematic in your giving.
In response to what God has done for me, I want to help connect people to Christ, build servant-hearted leaders, and change the city. As God enables me, I will endeavor to contribute financially the following amount. I understand that this commitment is a covenant between God and me. I will not be asked for payment at any time, and this commitment is not a legally enforceable obligation.

FLOWERS & SEASONAL DECORATIONS
Sanctuary Flowers are an important enhancement to our worship. They are given weekly to the glory of God and in honor or memory of loved ones. Giving flowers to the church is a simple process. You can use a florist of your choice. The flowers are acknowledged in the bulletin with your special words. CONTACT: Harriet DuBose
Seasonal Decorations are placed in the sancutuary during the Lenten and Advent seasons. If you are interested in placing easter lillies or poinsettias in the sanctuary during these seasons look for the reservation forms in the Sunday bulletin and "The Spire" newsletter.
