VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Dive deep into God's Word at the Great Bible Reef at Shandon! During Vacation Bible School, children celebrate being God's people through games, songs, crafts, stories and more in a vivid, underwater, coral reef environment. An emphasis on discipleship helps children learn that, as God's people, we care, help, love, trust, believe and listen. VBS is for children four years old through rising fifth graders. We need volunteers to help in all learning centers and in moving children from center to center. We welcome those who can help one day or all days and those who can help with pre-VBS chores. Call Deborah Goodwin 771-4408 or Janet Burts 256-1067 for more information, we are out of registration forms. We also need help collecting items for use with crafts. Things we need include:
    •    16 oz. or 1 liter bottles with tops
    •    large conch shells
    •    small shells
    •    assorted clean and dry glass small bud vases,
bottles or jars (vinegar, catsup, interesting shapes!)
    •    baby food jars with tops
Bring any collectibles to Deborah Goodwin's office.

NURSERY SERVICE
Shandon provides nursery services for young children during 8:45 and 11 a.m. worship services, and Sunday School classes for all ages from 9:45-10:45 a.m.

Shandon is committed to maintaining a safe environment in which children and youth are nurtured and instructed in the faith, and protected from abuse and neglect, particularly sexual and physical. Our Child Protection Policy has as its goals to protect children and youth in church programs, to educate workers and care givers concerning abuse issues, and to protect staff and volunteers, as well as the church as a whole, from potential wrongful accusations of abuse or neglect.

The Shandon Presbyterian Child Development Center, in operation since 1958, is an extension of the church's ministry to and for children of all races, creeds, and religious backgrounds.
  • The Half-Day Preschool program is a nine-month program for children 1 to 5 years old.
  • The Full-Day Preschool program is a twelve-month program for chldren 8 weeks to 5 years of age.
  • The Afterschool Program is a twelve-month program for children kindergarten to eighth grade enrolled in public or private school.
PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN
Shandon Presbyterian's programs for children help families to share the good news of God's redeeming love in Jesus Christ.

Sunday School for all ages, including adults, begins at 9:45 every Sunday morning. Nursery care is available for infants and younger toddlers. Age group classes for two-year-olds through fifth grade use a progressive Bible Quest curriculum. Confirmation classes, middle school and senior high classes meet in the McDonald Youth Center.

During the school year, Wednesdays at Shandon is a fellowship supper for the whole family followed by children's choir rehearsals and Bible study activities, as well as programs for youth and adults.

Seasonal celebrations for children, like the annual birthday party for Jesus and the Easter egg hunt, give special emphasis to holy days.
