Parents & Children

Shandon Presbyterian's programs for children help families to share the good news of God's redeeming love in Jesus Christ.

Sunday School for all ages, including adults, begins at 9:45 a.m. every Sunday morning. Nursery care is available for infants and younger toddlers. Age group classes are available for 2-year-olds through fifth grade. Confirmation classes, middle school and senior high classes meet in the McDonald Youth Center.

Seasonal celebrations for children, like the annual birthday party for Jesus and the Easter egg hunt, give special emphasis to holy days.

CHILDREN'S SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES

PRESCHOOL
Shandon’s Crib Room
(107b) and Toddler Room (107) provide an atmosphere of love, warmth and acceptance, helping these children to establish positive associations with the Church.

Twos (Room 104) are using the “Little Lambs” series by Faith Alive Resources to introduce young children to the Bible stories about God and his Son, Jesus.

Threes
(Room 102) and Fours (Room 105) are using the “Wee Believe” curriculum developed by Presbyterians for Presbyterians. It builds foundations to help young children learn about God’s love for them. Stories will introduce children to the family that started it all: Abraham and Sarah to Joseph and his brothers (and sister).

YOUNGER ELEMENTARY
Kindergarteners
(Room 114), First Graders (Room 109) and Second and Third Graders (Room 205) are using “We Believe.” The fall quarter will explore Old Testament relationships, such as Cain and Abel, David and Goliath, and Ruth and Naomi.

OLDER ELEMENTARY
Fourth and Fifth Graders
(Room 207) are also using “We Believe” and will be learning about key relationships in the Old Testament.

Child Protection Policy

Shandon is committed to maintaining a safe environment in which children and youth are nurtured and instructed in the faith, and protected from abuse and neglect, particularly sexual and physical. Our Child Protection Policy has, as its goals, to protect children and youth in church programs, to educate worker and care givers concerning abuse issues, and to protect staff and volunteers, as well as the church as a whole, from potential wrongful accusations of abuse or neglect
