CHILDREN'S WAS ACTIVITIES
Choirs for Children!

We begin rehearsals on September 8th for all three choirs for children. We look forward to having the children who participated in the past, and welcome any new children that would like to join one of the choirs! The descriptions and rehearsal schedules for each choir follow:

Kinder Choir: This is a new choir for children in grades 4K and Kindergarten. We will sing fun songs based on biblical stories, will engage in movement/music activities, and will play rhythm instruments as an introduction to music. We will perform several times during the year. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 5:00-5:30 p.m. in Room 202 beginning September 8.

Arise Choir: This choir is for children in 1st-2nd grades. We will continue to sing, engage in movement/music activities, and play rhythm instruments. Beginning music reading skills will be taught, and the children will sing approximately once per month in church. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 6:00-6:30 p.m. in Room 202 beginning September 8. Following choir, from 6:30-7:15 p.m., the children meet with Deborah Goodwin for Bible study time and will be talking about the "Fruit of the Spirit" in curriculum published by Abingdon Press. The term "fruit of the spirit" comes from the idea that Christians grow in the faith, and this growth produces Christian virtues such as love and joy.

Shine Choir: This choir is for children in 3rd-5th grades. We will continue working on music reading skills, will sing hymns, and will learn how to use the hymnal. We will also work on vocal skills and begin to sing in parts. The children will sing approximately once per month in church. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 6:30-7:15 p.m. in Room 202. Prior to choir, from 6:00-6:30 p.m., the children meet with Deborah Goodwin for Bible study time and will be talking about the "Fruit of the Spirit" in curriculum published by Abingdon Press. The term "fruit of the spirit" comes from the idea that Christians grow in the faith, and this growth produces Christian virtues such as love and joy.
