Outreach opportunities for February
January 18, 2013
SALVATION ARMY VOLUNTEERS are needed February 1, 2, 17, 18 and 25 and March 1-2 to help serve dinner to the homeless. Please ask a church friend to join you in this valuable ministry, and let's increase the blessings of service as we do the work of Christ. Anyone ages 14-17 (with an adult) and older may volunteer. We need four to six volunteers 4:45-6:00 PM at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 1301 Calhoun St. You may park in the lot at the corner of Calhoun and Sumter streets, and knock on the kitchen door facing Calhoun Street for entry. Wear closed toe shoes and dress modestly. Sign up at Shandon’s reception desk or e-mail Robin Scott, firstname.lastname@example.org.
BIKES FOR VETERANS Fast Forward, a nonprofit technology center on Devine Street, works with returning veterans to prepare them for and help them locate employment. Transportation is often a stumbling block for those without cars or a convenient bus route to their place of employment. If you have an adult bicycle to donate, please contact Rowena Nylund, 252-7752, email@example.com.
DONATE OR VOLUNTEER for the Pack a Backpack program that provides food for the weekend for children in need at Rosewood Elementary School.
Volunteers are needed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. You can help one time or as often as fits your schedule. To volunteer or learn more, contact Rowena Nylund, (803) 252-7752 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
