Biblical Perspectives Class -Room 216

This group studies both books of the Bible and this spring will complete a study of the book of Revelation and begin a study of “The Great Divorce” by C.S. Lewis. Teachers are Lamar Flatt, Laura Best, Robert Cely, Pat Cely and Bethany Cely. Class contact: Laura Best

Companions Class – Room 214

This class is especially for young adult families with infant children, parents-to-be and couples who may be considering starting a family. This spring‘s study will focus on different branches of Christianity using Adam Hamilton’s series, “Christianity’s Family Tree: What Other Christians Believe and Why.” Class members rotate teaching. Contemporaries Class – Room 202

Kick off the new year with a study on theological questions we’ve always wondered about. Join in our lively discussion, or just sit back and listen. Theological questions we’ll discuss: Who is God? Is there life after death? What happens when we sin? Why pray? Some lessons are from TheThoughtfulChristian.com site, a resource of the PCUSA. We’ll do a Lenten Study and have guest speakers. Class members lead discussions; all ages are welcome. Class contacts: Marcia Bacon and Heather Powers.

Ed Anderson Class – Room 210

This community of faith cares deeply for each other and enjoys a variety of teachers who share a love of Bible study. Using“The Present Word” series, spring study will focus on God’s covenant through Abraham. Lessons are taken from Genesis, Exodus, Luke and Galatians with a theological emphasis on faith. Family Matters Class – Room 224

Composed primarily of parents with school-aged children, this class enjoys fellowship and study that sustains them in the journey of parenting, work and life. A series on the relationship between our faith and the stewardship of creation taught by the Creation Care Team will begin the year, followed by a Lenten study led by Jill Duffield. Generations Class – Davis Hall

This diverse group of couples and singles of all ages takes the study of scripture seriously and enjoys active discussion. This spring the class will continue its study of the Gospel of Matthew. Class contacts: Bill and Trish Sargent.

Inquirers Class – Room 206

February 5-26 – This class welcomes all who want to know more about Shandon Presbyterian Church, church membership and what it means to be a Christian. Taught by clergy and members of Shandon.

Ray Riddle Class – Room 204

A study entitled “The Gift of Years,” led by Dr. Libby Alford, will begin on January 15. In February, Dr. Karl Heider will share his knowledge of Christianity in Asia and his experiences in Taiwan. The Ray Riddle Class brings together men and women of retirement age who enjoy studying aspects of the Christian faith, spending time together and welcoming new participants. Sarah Touchton Class – Room 203

After finishing a study of The Book of Acts this spring, this group will explore the theology of “Calvin and Hobbes” based on the work of Richard Beck from experimentaltheology.blogspot. Teacher: Susie Glenn. Class contact: Janet Teuber.

William Harden Class – Room 209

The Harden Class will begin this winter by watching a documentary called “A Man Named Pearl.” This is a story of a South Carolinian with a passion for landscaping that has drawn thousands to his magical yard that spreads a message of peace and love. We will follow this with expert presentations about difficult issues facing children in our city. There will be Lenten Bible study offered Feb. 26 to April 1. Class contact: Susan Nash.
